On Tuesday, Uttarakhand reported 18 fatalities due to COVID infection. 11 were recorded in Dehradun, 3 in Nainital, and 2 each in Haridwar and Uttarkashi districts. On Wednesday, also 10 deaths were reported. In January alone 146 COVID –related deaths were reported.
1,840 new Covid infections were reported in Uttarakhand on Tuesday. Among these, the maximum of 595 was recorded in Dehradun, followed by 229 in Haridwar, 210 in Nainital, 183 in Almora and 101 in Rudraprayag. On Wednesday, the state recorded 2,081 infections.
However, the weekly Covid positivity rate had decreased to 10.91% between January 24 and 30. 4,383 recoveries were recorded on Tuesday, putting the total recovery tally to 48,774 in January. More people were getting vaccinated.
Anoop Nautiyal, founder of Dehradun-based social organisation Social Development for Communities Foundation said that all were requested to follow a Covid-appropriate behaviour and a disciplined community behaviour would only help to recover from the Covid pandemic.
